Camptown Races and Lagerphone

It was the annual cider party this weekend and the Uke of Cornwall and I didn't know what to do with our hangovers and all the beer bottle tops that were left so, inspired by the Groanbox Boys' Freedom Boot, we decided to make out own lagerphone. We pinned the bottletops in pairs to a broomshank and hey presto instant ju-ju stick!

Camptown Races

I haven't posted any audio for a while, so here's a version of Camptown Races.

It was written by Stephen Foster in 1850. Foster was a pioneering proffessional songwriter who died tragically young at the age of thirty-seven after writing a body of songs which are still popular today, Oh Suzanna, Beautiful Dreamer, Swannee River etc.

January Jam

Got together with my brother and a friend to celebrate his new mandolin. Lovely instrument and works well with guitar and banjo. Here's a couple of tunes we recorded this afternoon on my phone.
