FMB part 2

This version is so much better than the previous one I posted. Cool suits, cool hair, cool hats, plenty of Earl and no gurning!

FMF part 2

It's actually still the first break of Foggy Mountain but I've just practiced it a bit more and added in the opening tag.

Earl Scruggs - FMB

Here's the man himself, surrounded by some dodgy perms I must say!

Foggy Mountain Fakedown

After Cripple Creek and Dueling Banjo's this is one of those songs which is seen to define banjo music.

This is Patrick Costello's tab for a frailing/clawhammer version of Earl Scruggs' bluegrass tune.

Audio to follow.

St Valentines Day Massacre

Got together with the boys - Carl, Mark, Mark and Johnathan and massacred a few standards for Valentines Day. Needles to say the ladies thought it was a very romantic gesture(not)!

August Jam III

More from the August Jam.

Foggy Mountain Breakdown

I think we need to practice a bit more, as both tracks sound better at 110% speed.

Songs What We Have (almost) Learned

After posting a pretty lengthy song list for last nights jam we only got through six, and one of them wasn't even on the list. They sound pretty rough and ready, but its only our second practice together. Highlights are MC Clawhammer's Foggy Mountain, Cowboy Waltz and Irish Washerwoman.

Playlist for Monday's Jam - and a couple of tunes

MC Clawhammer's sent in a couple of songs Wildwood Flower and Foggy Mountain Breakdown. The kids obviously love it!

Banks of the Ohio in A

This is the first thing I've recorded using a capo to tune the banjo up into A. I also tuned up the fifth string to A as well, not sure if this what you are supposed to do but it sounded bad without... not that it's that great with.

Playlist for Monday night's jam.
  • Jesse James
  • Wildwood Flower
  • Cripple Creek
  • Foggy Mountain Breakdown

Suggestions

  • Whiskey in the Jar
  • Worried Man Blues
  • Camptown Races
  • Wabash Cannonball (in C - I'll copy the tab)
  • Shortnin Bread
  • Dirty Old Town
  • Wreck of the Old '97

Duelling Banjos and Foggy Mountain Breakdown

MC Clawhammer is working on his bluegrass rolls and considering he's only been playing banjo since December is making real progress.
